The Mira’s Hong Kong main entrance overlooks Kowloon Park and its dramatic curves are a foretaste of what awaits inside. The abundance of light and space is a constant theme, as well as shiny metal fixtures, imaginative graphics and experimental sculptures, designed to fit an emerald and platinum palette. By combining clean lines and modern technology with natural materials and sleek finish, the architect created a soothing habitat in the heart of Hong Kong.
Bright colors dominate in the retro-futuristic rooms and suites: green, blue, purple or black with red accessories. Each room is decorated with carefully selected fabrics and furnishings (e.g. Arne Jacobsen Egg chairs) and is packed with the latest electronics: Bose sound system with dock for iPod, Sony Entertainment Centre, Blu-ray DVD, and 40-inch flat-screen TV, computer with a reliable Wi-Fi…
But there is more. The bathroom with glass walls has a button that electronically closes blinds to enhance privacy. Another button controls the curtains. And with the My Mira button guests can order theatre tickets, limousine service, or a late-night snack. There is also a mobile phone as part of the My Mobile service: thanks to which guests can use the handset outside of the hotel and make local calls for free. Incoming calls to the room are also re-directed to this phone, which is very handy.
The main restaurant WHISK serves the contemporary French menu under the auspices of William Girard, former chef at Al Mahara Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Then there is Cuisine Cuisine, specializing in the traditional Cantonese food, and Yamm, with a buffet-style range of international dishes. For lighter meals and drinks guests can visit the swanky lobby bar Room One, indulge in the chocolate-themed café COCO or unwind on one of the sofas at Vibes—a dramatic outdoor garden lounge with a bamboo grove.
MiraSpa caters to other senses, with its infinity pool made of opalescent glass panes, a wide range of massage treatments, and even a “light therapy” room.
