It’s exactly this sort of thing that drives home the point about how absurdly blessed Italy is as a travel destination. As if the original JK Place in Florence weren’t enough, they’ve gone and opened another one, in Capri (soon followed by their opening in Rome).

The choice now is between a smart urban boutique hotel in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, a fashionista’s haven in the bustling Eternal City—or a chic seaside hotel, on one of the world’s most picturesque islands.

Tailored to the location

The JK Place Capri features interiors by Michele Bonan—classic, urbane, perhaps even just a touch of English country style, in soft pastels and patterned wallpapers. Some rooms have small balconies facing the sea, and the penthouse suite (divisible into two penthouse rooms for the rest of us) comes with a long private terrace with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples.

JK Place is one of the only hotels in Capri that’s right on the ocean, and it could hardly be more central—it’s in the Roman old town, on a cliff overlooking the harbor. That right there pretty much sums up the approach: no expense spared, no corners cut, and nothing out of place. Just a phenomenal location—it’s hard to do better than the Amalfi—and a first-class hotel from which to take it all in.

Travel+Style readers will remember our reviews of the JK Place Firenze and JK Roma hotels, with their great style and a serious fashion sense. JK Capri continues this fabulous streak.

What we love

• Rooms—designed in a pared-down, seaside navy-and-white chic style—with sublimely selected art, canopied beds, marble fireplaces;
• This is the only hotel in Capri positioned right on the seafront, with lovely views over the Grand Marina;
• Great restaurant, offering excellent Mediterranean fare throughout the day;
• Fabulous pool area!
• The terrace—pop here for a great sundowner before the dinner.

What you should know

• JK Place's location across the Grand Marina, while lovely, is perhaps a bit far for a casual stroll to the town. Thankfully, there is the shuttle minibus provided by the hotel;
• Great for couples… less geared for families. But actually Capri is like that—there isn't much on the island to keep small children entertained;
• The oceanfront rooms located just below the hotel's first floor are not soundproofed and some guests may find the noise from above disturbing. However, the rooms benefit from nice views;
• JK Place Capri is open seasonally, from April through October and a 7-night minimum stay is required from mid-June until mid-September. All weekend bookings have a 3-night minimum stay requirement;
• Insider's tip: ask for a sea view room.
