Harmony of design and location

The hotel’s location plays a significant role in its appeal. The iconic, spell-binding Santorini seascape is a beautiful backdrop for Cavo’s design and comforts.

The architecture embodies elegant sophistication, with simple angles and shapes creating a sense of luxury living. While the predominant color palette is white and gray, plenty of smoked wood and rose gold touches exist. It all feels minimal but soft, inspiring harmony.

Our suite

Hotel rooms in Santorini tend to be small, but this is not the case in Cavo. Our sunset suite with a pool had plenty of living space, a large pool, and a terrace, perfect for admiring the stunning Santorini sea views.

Good times at OVAC

We loved starting the day with an a la carte breakfast in the excellent OVAC restaurant, which overlooks the main infinity pool. From Continental to Greek, and from the superb coffee to signature juices, the food never disappoints here.

OVAC is where the days would end as well. The place becomes the star attraction in the late afternoons when its clubby poolside mood kicks in. This is when the glamorous crowd gathers for cocktails, fun, and the island’s best sushi, and when the restaurant spills its trendy vibe onto the surroundings decking, with its loungers well-placed to enjoy sundowners.

Undoubtedly one of the best luxury hotels in Santorini, the Cavo Tagoo offers trendy accommodation and one of the best spots on the island to take in the stunning caldera sea views.

What we love

• The location, at the northern outskirts of Imerovigli, with some truly fantastic views of the caldera and the island. Sunsets at the main pool are to die for.
• Sublime design: a nice balance of architectural minimalism, soft shapes, and organic materials.
• The ever-changing ambiance. Cavo can be tranquil during the day, only to become a partygoing destination in the evenings. This place is both fun and relaxing.
• Our private pool with a view over the caldera was a highlight, and our suite overall was lovely. It was elegant, spacious, and well-designed—we couldn't ask for much more.
• The main swimming pool is gorgeous. It's heated, and its infinity surface goes up to the caldera's edge. The floating sun loungers are great for sundowners or sunbathing if you feel too lonely on your private terrace.
• We loved the food overall. The well-appointed OVAC restaurant serves Mediterranean Fusion cuisine throughout the day.
• The a la carte breakfast was our favorite meal. It featured local produce, focusing on Greek fare, great coffee, and juices (Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 11:00 at OVAC but can also be brought to the suite).

What you should know

• While we loved the hotel's quiet location, it may feel too remote for some guests. Positioned on the outskirts of Imerovigli, the hotel is a 25-minute walk from the center of the village with its many restaurants and attractions. It takes only a few minutes by car, though.
• As virtually all hotels in Santorini, Cavo Tagoo is seasonal, opening between April and October. Reserve well in advance — it's a popular place!
• Our pool suite was great but could be slightly better insulated from the noise. We could hear upstairs guests running water and talking in the bathroom. The outside area also lacked complete privacy, as the room above had a view over our pool.
• This hotel tends to get loud and crowded, especially at sunset, as the restaurant and the pool are open to non-guests.
• While the hotel's vibe aims to attract couples, it is also one of the few hotels located on the rim of the caldera that accepts families with children (it is much safer as it's not directly perched on the steep slope).
